What do you do to make it look like she's standing in the sun?

Kaishu responds:

To get the bloom effect, I'm usually messing around with layer modes and soft brushes after the base colors/shadows/highlights are down. It varies from piece to piece. What I really recommend though is learning 3-point lighting, and then start experimenting once you get the gist of it. The sun here is pretty much one large key light with some soft fill and rear lights for indirect sources.

Before I read this was for Bloons I thought these were OC's from Monkey Quest, lol.

at7outof10 responds:

Oh wow, haha, that's some nice monkey design aswell. Well played Nickelodeon.

The linework on this is fucking awesome :)

Dasuq responds:

Thank you so much! I've had a lot of fun with these prompts by playing around with my linework and shading. I'm glad it'spaying off!

Is that a reference to MF'ing Zombo.com ? Regardless, I really like this art. :)

upkxts responds:

yea lol! and thanks!!

I remember seeing this guy a long time ago! I forgot this game exists. Cute art! :) I love the texture to it.

Cowboysprinkles responds:

Thank you!! And they've made great progress on it!! : ) I highly recommend Julian's animation streams (the animations are super smooth!!)

I like it! If I might offer some critique, though, With how the drawing is outlined, I think having a perfectly clean outline takes away from the picture. With how jagged and chaotic the hatch lines are, The smooth outline detracts from that effect. I guess the best example I can give is how the characters in Don't Starve are drawn in a sort of sketchy way. Keep up the good work! My favorite thing about this picture is the blade, it looks badass. :)

TheArgoNinja responds:

Thanks for the feedback!

This is awesome! your experiment definitely payed off. :)

DevilRat responds:

It is a case of I kind of sort of did something decent. It actually feels like genuine color and not the washed out bull@^&!. I feel like I have been putting out outside the exception of two...... It mainly comes down to I sort of going my traditional method with it. A case of paint over to let the color bleed. This feels like a mix of my old and new content.... Old stuff color bleed is highly present.... New with the custom brushing, clarity gradually getting higher and higher... Though it is getting more traditional in layering.

Super cute! :) Is she a mermaid?

AmberPhoenix responds:

Kind of.
She's from No Straight Roads. Cool game with a really nice and unique art style.

I love that the outline is consistent and clean. :) What program did U use for this? I'm looking for a new art program to use.

Tronsonic responds:

I used IbisPaint X, you can download it for free on your phone. Thank you for the support!
