Do you draw with a thin brush and then add more thickness to your lines as you go, or do you just draw with a thick brush the whole time? I've been trying both and I'm not sure which one is better.

i usually go with a thick brush with pen pressure, then erase and/or add more thickness to my liking
but it depends, for this piece in particular i did reduce the brush size in a lot of places
Oh my god he's looking at the one in the box to the right
I just barely noticed that now that you've mentioned it LMAO
I like your art a lot :)
you are too kind!! thank you!!!
Pink bunnies are awesome :) my main oc I draw all the time is one!
!!! Ur arts so cool!!!!
DAMN I guess I have to try colored pencils on cardboard some time. I had no idea it could look so good.
The effect is amazing, since you don't have to make sure the base colouring is covering everything. :D I recommend to first fill in shadows and then just put colours on for the highlights as a start. :D It's a good way to get used to the material AND the results never fail to look neat.
These last few pieces you made all look so cool and professional. Do you have a job that involves making art?
Thank you for your kind words, I'm a full time 2D technical animator who works with some Nick and Disney shows :)
Are there any artists or courses that you recommend to achieve this sort of intense shading you do? It looks like a lot of fun. :)
Some artists are: Virgil Finlay, Jack Davis, Solano López, Tetsuo Hara, Kentaro Miura, Jack Kirby, etc. I don't take courses so I can't recommend you any, sorry.
I really like this :) Its kind of rare to see something as interpretive as this on Newgrounds. Its a nice change of pace :)
thank you for the comment!! i enjoy making interpretive art so i'm glad some people are enjoying it 🙏
How long did it take before you became comfortable making these types of 3D models on your own without help from tutorials or anything? I'm still at that stage of learning blender where I can't really do anything on my own and I'd love to work my way up to that point. :)
My advice is to start small and eventually build yourself up to bigger projects. Start basic, like make a low poly apple or a chair, very simple things to start of with (get a feeling on how to work with the program) After that make simple characters (not too complicated) and from then you’ll gain enough knowledge.
I love the way you draw their eyes. :) I remember I think getting all the way to the point where you play as the nerdy kid when he's escaping from the orphanage, I think that's probably half way thru the game but I always got bored because I felt like the game was really slow. I love the aesthetic of the series tho I'll probably try out MOTHER some day. Good art! :)
thank you! and yeah no if im gonna be honest despite me enjoying alot of jsut walking around and trying to figure out stuff in order to get to the next areas the game goes really slow for my taste, like I got to that point where you were talking about in the morning with Jeff escaping the orphanage, and then spent like 4-6 hours just trying to get through the one area into fourside which is essientally like around the halfway point of the game. I still enjoy most of it though despite it being tedious sometimes
((MY NAME IS PANCAKE TOP-HAT. TOP. HAT. IT IS NOT "pancaketoofat"))
I like to draw funny cartoon characters. Hopefully for a living some day.
